Galvanized steel pipe applications in life

Galvanized steel pipe has the benefit of being the most versatile pipe material available today. There are many different uses for galvanized steel in a number of industries. It can be configured with various joint types, and can be fabricated into elbows of any angle, reducers, wyes, crosses, and tees. Compared with other typical steel pipe coatings, such as specialized painting and powder coating, galvanization is much more labor-intensive, resulting in a higher initial cost for contractors. Besides, due to its durability and anti-corrosive properties, galvanized steel pipe can recycled and reused, which to some degree save a lot of money during the post maintenance work.

As we all know, steel pipe price is comparatively high compared with that of other common materials in use, but they are the strongest and most durable of all water supply pipes. They can withstand high water pressure, come in convenient (longer) lengths than most other pipes and thus incur lower installation/transportation costs. Today, galvanized steel pipe is also used for many other liquid transport applications, such as for energy distribution at power plants and for the oil industry. It has also become an important part of wind energy, as thousands of steel towers are installed to supports the wind turbines. In addition, galvanized steel pipe is used to transport a potpourri of fluids long distances, and with the application of any number of high-quality coatings, is adaptable through all types of soil environments as well as exposed piping systems.

In construction field, galvanized steel pipe is widely used for frame building materials. They are made into different shapes, including round, square or rectangular steel tubes. They are also manufactured in different lengths and thicknesses depending on what their use will be for. In addition to steel tubes, other steel products used in construction might be steel bars or plates. These materials are not always a straight bar either and they can be bent based on specific purposes in use. Unlike other structural steel materials, galvanized steel is immediately ready for use when it is delivered. No additional preparation of the surface is required, no time-consuming inspections, additional painting or coatings are needed. Once the structure is assembled, contractors can immediately begin the next stage of construction without having to worry about the galvanized steel materials.

Galvanized steel pipe can be frequently used for steel conduit in wire system to provide a very good protection to enclosed conductors from impact, moisture, and chemical vapors. Varying numbers, sizes, and types of conductors can be pulled into a conduit, which simplifies design and construction compared to multiple runs of cables or the expense of customized composite cable. Wiring systems in buildings may be subject to frequent alterations. Frequent wiring changes are made simpler and safer through the use of electrical conduit, as existing conductors can be withdrawn and new conductors installed, with little disruption along the path of the conduit.
